New Moon in Capricorn, 1/18/2026
With this new Moon in Capricorn, we find ourselves, once agaIn, in the final degrees of a sign, signaling completion and endings. The close proximity of Mars and Mercury makes this formation into a Stellium (group of planets) which is completed by Venus and Pluto in the first degrees of Aquarius.This 6-planet stellium has a rather formidable feel to it, as if they were on a mission. In Saturn-ruled Capricorn and Aquarius, they mean business!
We are looking at the completion of several cycles coming together as one. Neptune will leave Pisces for the last time on January 26th, moving into Aries where he will reside for the next 14 years. Uranus will make his exit from Taurus on April 26th, and take residence in Gemini for the coming 7-8 years. Saturn will also leave Pisces after spending 3 years there, and join Neptune at 0º Aries on February 14th, just prior to the next new Moon in Aquarius on February 17th. In Chinese astrology, we will be leaving the Wood Serpent and entering the Fire Horse on that day. A very auspicious convergence of energies!
These alignments are extremely significant, and have been talked about by astrologers for years. Pluto is leading the way, having spent 16 years in Capricorn, now in Aquarius since 2024, he has been setting the stage for the other slow-moving generational planets to activate in their new signs. This is all about becoming conscious of the real agendas that have been dictating what happens in our world, freeing ourselves from them, and reclaiming our sovereignty by creating the world that we want to live and participate in: a world we want to leave to our children and grandchildren.
At a more personal level, we are looking at the completion of projects, and/or a period of confusion, illusion or delusion coming to an end. Neptune has been in Pisces for the past 14 years, indicating a period of uncertainty and perhaps the dissolution of ideas and concepts that are no longer viable in this changing world. Since 2012, what have you experienced that has taught you to be less naive, or perhaps more trusting of the “Greater Plan”?
This time is wrapping up and the new Moon, along with Mars and Mercury, all trining Uranus in Taurus, are pointing to a very practical and grounded conclusion to a decade and-a half of uncertainty, nebulosity and important changes to our belief systems, whether religious, scientific or philosophical.
Although completion of past cycles is a major theme here, this is still a NEW Moon, and thus the beginning of a new cycle. Here’s the question: what do you want to do or create at this time? What have you learned over the past 14 years and how will you apply that now, in a very tangible and real way?
Instead of asking ChatGPT to help me offer you an overview of the aspects of this new Moon, I decided that I would do horoscopes to give you an idea of how this might affect you personally. They can be read according to your birth or Sun sign, but ideally they correspond to your Ascendant or rising sign, which determines the placement of the houses in your chart. Both will give you valuable information to ponder.
ARIES:
You’ve been going through some disillusionment in your career, and you are ready to take that leap into the unknown, perhaps starting your own business, or making sure you have enough income streams for retirement. This can be a scary time - just know that the Universe has your back when you follow that voice within, the one you know you can trust.
TAURUS:
You have undergone some serious transformation over the past 8 years or so. This new Moon is urging you to fully embrace the philosophical and spiritual implications of that transformation. By doing so, you are allowing the fruits of your labor to manifest in tangible and practical ways, whether that’s a change in body image, spiritual practice, or perhaps the acquisition of a new skill. Now is the time to fully own it!
GEMINI:
Gemini’s are looking at the resolution of dysfunctional karmic relationships, past-life entanglements and other ties that were not necessarily evident, where roles may have been confusing or confused. Writing new contracts and/or disavowing old ones could be beneficial for you at this time. Just make sure your actions are grounded in love and compassion.
CANCER:
This is a very good time for you, Cancer, to fully accept where illusions have led to beliefs that do not coincide with reality, especially in the realm of one-on-one relationships. You have been guided this far; there is no reason to doubt your resolve to find a new partner, or to update the terms of an existing relationship, as long as love and mutual respect are observed.
LEO:
Leo’s have had some serious upheaval in your career house, which - of course - you needed! Your tendency to be complacent and avoid change and growth, even when it is warranted has brought you some rather surprising, if not downright unsettling experiences in the work place. Practice your due diligence, do the work that you already know needs to be done, and you will thrive like never before!
VIRGO:
Your need for certainty and control has certainly been put to the test, Virgo! You are SO ready for the new Moon in Capricorn to help you clarify your goals, your mission and determine the kinds of people you want to be around. It’s time to let go of the reins and allow Spirit to guide you, putting mind/ego in the back seat for a little while. Trust, and you will find your way!
LIBRA:
Librans have an opportunity to rewrite karmic contracts specifically as it relates to family. This is not a one-off situation: you have been seeing the dysfunction for years, and now is your time to consciously recognize it for what it is, and decide how you want to move forward with certain relationships. Setting clear boundaries does not negate love, and often redefines it in a much healthier way.
SCORPIO:
Over the past seven years or so, your one-on-one relationships have been tested and challenged to a point where you may have experienced some doubt as to your original choice. This new Moon in Capricorn gives you the means to not only voice your opinion, but also gives credence to your values and allows your actions to speak for themselves. In this, you are backed by a community of loyal friends and family.
SAGITTARIUS:
Ok, Sadge, get ready for some financial break-throughs… if you’re ready! Your ability to stick to something long enough for it to come to fruition - which already wasn’t stellar! - has been seriously challenged over the past 8 years. Lessons learned, things are about to change. If you can master the discipline and focus necessary to see your project through, now’s the time to go for it!
CAPRICORN:
You are loving this time of order and discipline, aren’t you? In spite of the Gregorian calendar being wrong about the actual start of the year, you revel in the idea of taking your life back into your own hands, and this new Moon encourages and applauds you!
AQUARIUS:
You’ve been through much upheaval in your home life over the past 8 years, whether through your own choice or forced by life circumstances, and you are SO ready to settle down. This new Moon in Capricorn gives you fortitude and strength to be able to ride out the storm until Uranus finally leaves your 4th house of home and family in late April. Trust your inner knowing - you will be guided to be exactly where you need to be.
PISCES:
It is easy for you to stay in the realm of un-manifested dreams because you are so comfortable swimming around in non-verbal ideas and concepts, that to render them into language can feel disjointed and awkward. This Capricorn new Moon gives you an opportunity to crystalize those brilliant ideas into practical and intelligible ways to turn your dreams into reality. Starting a dream journal or writing daily can be a good way to begin.
